Ken Harootunian

Nonprofit lifer, who has worked for three different Planned Parenthood affiliates, two community foundations in California and Florida, the SF Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park, and two universities (Stanford & UPenn), Ken embraces lifelong learning in every job and consulting engagement he takes on. As a museum-lover, he has helped in the creation of two museums dedicated to the preservation of brewery history and their colorful advertising legacies. At SF Botanical Gardens, a living museum in Golden Gate Park, he was responsible for membership, and had to be strategic about member benefits, much in a way that art museums do regarding which experiences and benefits members/customers value the most.
Making the best out of your existing space, even if it is small, cherishing your loved ones, and helping those less fortunate than you, even if you are broke-ass.
As a board member of the Numi (Tea) Foundation, we saw the great need in the Oakland community in terms of food security once COVID hit and have helped deliver over half a million pounds of organic fruits/veggies to over 5,000 families of school children in need since March 2020. It was that nimble pivoting by the Foundation that is a source of pride for us, as so many people are hurting and hungry.
